Impressions from Oztek and DEMA shows
When you launch a new underwater equipment company in beautiful New Zealand, the downside is that it’s far away from your biggest markets. It feels even further when a pandemic limits travel for 2 years.
That limitation ended mid 2022, and Andrew was very excited to finally take the housing overseas - first to Fiji, then Australia for OzTek and finally to Florida for DEMA.
The Mantis Sub 360 camera housing was extremely well received, especially from the cave diving, holiday resorts and marine science community. Underwater VR has a special quality when it comes to experiencing places that are amazing, but far away or very hard to reach. Regular 2D video doesn’t come close.
Here’s a 360 video shot in Fiji while staying at the Volivoli Beach Resort. It’s simply mind-blowing to watch in VR. You’ll never get as close to the fish without it, not even with a rebreather.
Cave Diving in Mount Gambier
Mount Gambier near Melbourne is Australia’s premier cave diving spot. Lucky for Andrew his schedule allowed a few days of cave diving before OzTek, and he wouldn’t go without the Mantis Sub housing and Insta360 Pro2.
Thank you to Fourth Element
Industry gatherings are invaluable to build friendships and connections. One such connection is with Jim Standing and Paul Strike from Fourth Element - our favourite dive wear. They’ve been incredibly supportive in getting our underwater housing in front of people, and we can’t thank them enough.
