Livestream VR

The free Livestream VR App by Mantis Sub is the only VR app for live monitoring and control of the popular Insta360 Pro, Pro 2, and Titan cameras. No internet connection required!

Simply connect the camera and your Headset to the same network and enjoy the benefits of a local live-stream without the speed and bandwidth limitations of an internet connection.

The network can be the camera's WiFi, or an independent Ethernet/WiFi router. Compatible with Farsight (additional WiFi router required). You can even live-stream from the air with a drone or from underwater with the Mantis Sub waterproof housing.

How it works

  1. Connect your VR headset to the same network as the camera.

  2. Launch the Livestream VR App

  3. Wait for the Livestream VR App to scan the network and find your camera *)

  4. Start a HLS live-stream with the App or your handheld device.

  5. Click play and enjoy high bandwidth 360 live-stream in 3D and 2D.

*) When using Farsight it might be necessary to enter the camera’s IP address manually. The address is displayed on the camera’s display.

Installation

Livestream VR is available for Windows, macOS and Oculus (Meta) Quest/Quest 2 .

PC via SteamVR (Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, etc.)

On PC, Livestream VR uses the SteamVR launchpad provided for free by Valve. SteamVR supports the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Quest, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, and others.

Please go to https://www.steamvr.com/ to download and setup SteamVR. When you have SteamVR running and can see the SteamVR home environment on your VR headset, simply start the Livestream VR executable on your PC.

System Requirements for PC VR:

  • Minimum: Windows 10 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 or better

  • Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480 or better

PC and macOS without a VR headset (Mouse/keyboard)

You can also run Livestream VR without a VR headset or SteamVR, both on Windows and macOS. The App was not specifically designed for this scenario, but we’ve kept system requirements to a minimum and mapped mouse and keyboard controls so that it can be used without a headset. This can be useful for testing.

  • Apple: High Sierra (10.13.6), 2012 mac with Intel Core i5 or Apple M1, 4GB or better. Metal graphics support required.

Simply install and start LivestreamVR, then use the keyboard and mouse to navigate and look around:

Right grab action: right mouse button, b

Oculus Quest via App Lab

Currently Livestream VR is not available through the public Oculus store, because Oculus does not allow experiences that require 3rd party hardware (e.g. a camera). However, it is available through the App Lab preview program, which is almost as convenient, but requires invitation.

Please send an email to info@mantis-sub.com with your email address, and we’ll send you an invitation. After you’ve accepted the invitation you can install the App on your Quest just like one from the public store.
